Vanilla Bean Cupcakes, Vanilla Buttercream, and a Cherry On Top

A quick shout-out to remembering those Americans, women and men, who have ever worn a uniform in the service of their country.  We also remember our family members who have passed – for it is they who have helped shape our lives.

Last week, when I was baking Strawberry Shortcake (not yet blogged), I baked up a few cupcakes.

I warmed the milk with the vanilla beans and separated the eggs.

The flavor was tremendous and I was happy to land on a patriotic theme.

My made in America Homer Laughlin Fiesta Dinnerware creates a wonderful look for whatever I happen to bake up.

I’m very proud of my life partner husband and his full-time service in uniform.  And on this holiday, we are remembering our fathers who served and grandfathers, too.

Best decision I ever made was marrying this renaissance man. I never tire of him or my amazing 1987 Princess Diana-inspired wedding dress.

I’m grateful for my people and the choices we get to make.
